Sahara Dust on La Palma
Dunas anaranjadas moldeadas por el viento que causa ondulaciones

Welcome Calima!

Just three weeks after the volcano in La Palma finally calmed down, the island is exposed to the next massive fine dust event.

Winds from storm Calima bring HUGE amounts of Sahara dust to the island. Just as predicted from local authority AEMET, you could see the increase in real-time on our MyAtmosphere platform for all AQ Guard Smart stations around the island starting last Friday night. Values of > 2000 microgram/m3, wow !

Once again, citizens should keep the windows closed.

We’re curious to also take a closer look at all the data, including the particle size distributions at the different locations.
